C&G Boillot & Violot-Guillemard

C&G Boillot & Violot-Guillemard:

Burgundy has never been more exciting than it is today with the ushering in of a young generation. With a newfound emphasis on vineyard techniques, a broader knowledge base from generational and global winemaking expertise, and young gun energy, the new generation is crafting wine of unprecedented excellence. We are thrilled to introduce two new domaines making seriously thrilling Burgundy; Domaine Camille & Guillaume Boillot and Joannes Violot-Guillemard.

Henri Boillot makes thrilling whites from across the Cote de Beaune, so when his son Guillaume, 6th generation, started his own domaine with wife Camille, we knew the results would be exceptional. Although Guillaume has been making wine with his dad for years, 2022 marks his eponymous Camille & Guillaume Boillot's (C&G Boillot) second vintage. Guillaume's abilities are deeply rooted in the traditions of his family's winemaking, yet he brings an innovative approach to modernize the wines. Between upgrades in vineyard management, and subtle but important upgrades in the cellar, the C&G Boillot wines are outstanding. Racy acidities, incisive flavor, tensile textures and structure, the wines have hallmark Boillot minerality, plus remarkable finesse. This is a young domaine that is only just getting started, making now a brilliant time to get in early!!

Likewise, Joanne Violot-Guillemard is an ancient domaine reimagined under the new generation. The domaine was founded in the early 20th century, but in 2019 Joanne took over for his father, bringing with him a more modern approach. We tasted through his line up last week and were blown away by the spectacular aromatics and ethereal appeal. This is true Burgundy with seaming weightlessness, and we warmly recommend the entire range.

Joanne's Pommard show remarkable vibrancy and lift, but is equally as talented in whites. We find the Meursault Meix Chavaux 2020 in magnums to be out of this world delicious. There is also a Clos des Mouches, a famous Beaune 1er Cru for its limestone rich soils, that are both made in Blanc and Rouge from Guillemard. This is ultra small production and only a tiny amount of the wine makes it to American soils.

Two outstanding domaines who have already garnered cult-followings among insiders, there has simply never been a better time to be a Burgundy lover.
