TWM In-Store Tasting 1/17: Rising Stars of Burgundy

We are absolutely thrilled to invite you to our first guided tasting of the year at Tribeca Wine Merchants where we will be joined by two of Burgundy’s rising stars, Arnaud Baillot and Joannes Violot-Guillemard.

Arnaud Baillot, based in Beaune, has been making wine since earning his Master’s in Business in 2013 and acquiring his first vineyards in 2017. Together with his wife Laure, granddaughter of Hudelot-Noëllat’s founder, they highlight Burgundy's diversity with a range of wines across the Côte-d’Or. Now in his seventh vintage, Arnaud is making significant strides in winemaking with a hands-on approach. He has embraced the use of concrete eggs for élevage, enhancing the purity and precision of his wines. His “blank slate” allows him creative freedom, avoiding the confines of a single appellation and enabling him to build his own family legacy in record time.

Joannes Violot-Guillemard is an ancient domaine reimagined under the new generation. The domaine was founded in the early 20th century, but in 2019 Joanne took over for his father, bringing with him a more modern approach. We tasted through his line up earlier this year and were blown away by the spectacular aromatics and ethereal appeal. This is true Burgundy with seaming weightlessness, and we warmly recommend the entire range..
