The 2001 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru puts Leroy’s 2004 Chambolle-Musigny and 2004 Nuits Saint Georges in the shade when the three are served alongside each other. It has a beautiful bouquet, bright and vivid with red berry fruit, leather, potpourri and a subtle musky note. The palate is well balanced and nicely focused, quite Vosne-like in terms of tannic structure with lilting curry leaf and espresso notes towards the finish. This is drinking perfectly now. Tasted at Empire restaurant in Hong Kong.

Appealing red and black cherry aromas are found in the nose of the 2001 Nuits-St.-Georges Aux Boudots. This firm, tightly-wound wine reveals impressive quantities of dark fruit, excellent balance, and a finish that displays some wood tannin. Drink it between 2005 and 2010.
