Tasting Notes

Vinous 87+

Full red. Slightly medicinal aromas of redcurrant, plum, chocolate and herbs, along with a peppery nuance. Supple in texture but a bit subdued, with restrained sweetness and notes of herbs and minerals. I find this in an awkward stage today, and a tad dry and green on the back, but there’s firm spine and sneaky flavor intensity here. [Stephen Tanzer, 01/05/2007]

Robert Parker 89

A St.-Emilion fruit-bomb (using that expression in this vintage is taking liberal artistic license), La Fleur’s 2004 reveals beautifully sweet plum and cherry fruit as well as a subtle spicy oak component. Fleshy, plump, charming, captivating, and designed for hedonists, it is a full-flavored claret to drink during its first 10-12 years of life. [Robert Parker, 06/01/2007]

Anticipated maturity: 2007-2019

JancisRobinson.com 16.5

Some hint of brick on the mid crimson. Very sweet, almost jammy nose. Not especially complex. Broader and richer than most other Moueix 2004s, but still very reined in and extremely dry on the finish. Sandy tannins. [04/05/2005]

Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024
