Carillon’s 2010 Chassagne-Montrachet Macherelles is pure Chassagne in its rich, buttery fruit and oily texture. With time in the glass the wine’s minerality becomes more apparent, artfully buffering its more overt leanings. The Macherelles boasts stunning depth. The 2010 loses just a bit of persistence on the finish, but not enough to meaningfully detract from the immense pleasure it provides.
