WishlistTasting Notes
Vinous 92-94
(Faiveley vinified the old vines separately but then assembled them with the rest): Bright ruby-red. Alluring floral nose combines blackberry, black raspberry, violet and licorice. A savory and rather refined young Clos Vougeot, offering subtle notes of dark berries, flowers and earth rather than this grand cru’s more typical black cherry and herb qualities. Nothing rustic about this highly promising Clos Vougeot!
Robert Parker 92
The 2016 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru opens in the glass with an attractive bouquet of dark berries, red cherries, smoked meats and rich, loamy soil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, succulent but tight-knit, with a nicely concentrated core of sapid fruit, racy acids and fine-grained but youthfully chewy tannins. It’s one of the more reserved wines in the range, but it also doesn’t appear to possess the plenitude or completeness of Faiveley’s most successful cuvees in the 2016 vintage.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2046

Cask sample. Light to mid crimson. Ripe and dark, almost a little savoury, but there’s lovely red fruit too. Dark-fruited and chewy on the palate, firm but rounded. Dark chocolate on the finish. (JH)
