WishlistTasting Notes
Vinous 89
The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a perfumed nose, perhaps a little worked in the winery, but the fruit is pure and the new oak nicely integrated. Opulent, yet controlled. The palate is medium-bodied with a little hardness to the tannins, quite a worked mixture of red and black fruit that segues into a compact, tannic finish that needs a more flesh to balance it out. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2036
Robert Parker 93
Revisited in bottle, the 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) is showing very well, unwinding in the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, sweet soil tones and warm spices. Full-bodied, muscular and tightly wound, with lively acids and prodigious reserves of fine, chalky tannins, this is a serious, structured Clos Vougeot unapologetically built for the long haul. For the patient, everything suggests there’s considerable upside, but this is not a wine to “pop and pour” any time in the next decade.
Anticipated maturity: 2028-2075
