The 2021 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru possesses one of the most alluring bouquet from the Domaine this year, a melange of red and black fruit, cold granite, a touch of brine and a touch of undergrowth. Quite complex compared to other Premier Crus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, tart red cherry intermixed with blackcurrant and touches of thyme and bay, just tapering a little towards the finish. It will fill out by the time of bottling.
