The 2021 Chambertin Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru is more backward than the Griotte, almost introspective with dark berry fruit, tobacco and tertiary scents. Just a touch of spice emerges with time. The palate displays very fine structure, good backbone, quite peppery towards the finish with a long tail. Whilst not as gregarious as the Griotte, this has a simmering intensity that I appreciate.
