Tasting Notes

Vinous 93-95

The 2022 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru, which tends to be picked a little later than other cuvées, takes a while to open in the glass, with mainly black fruit and hints of black olive, a subtle marine influence coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, merging with more red fruit on the mid-palate, finishing with a touch of sour cherry. Very fine. [Neal Martin, 01/11/2024]

Anticipated maturity: 2026-2045

Picked 5 and 10 September. They buy the grapes and then vinify them in a barrel that is then rolled instead of punching down or pumping over. Cask sample. Heady and not big and bold. Very sweet and gorgeous. Not massive but there is so much underneath! Very long and rich on the end. Arguably more Drouhin than Clos de Bèze because of the polish and delicacy. Very long.
