Newfound Wines is a small family owned winery located in the Sierra Foothills. In 2016, Matt Naumann and his wife, Audra Chapman, purchased a remote 40 acre ranch, vineyard and winery in El Dorado County and tore out the existing vines to start fresh and review the dramatically situated parcel from it’s conventionally farmed past. Matt moved to California in 2003 from Milwaukee after catching the wine bug, and he was fortunate enough to learn from Bruce Neyers and set his path firmly into winemaking. They currently are sourcing grapes from several select grape growers that share their convictions with the goal of eventually going full estate fruit in the future. When we first tasted with Matt & Audra, the thing that came across most strongly was their honesty. They are not afraid to speak their minds and neither are their wines. The viewpoint shines through in every bottle and it is raw, uncompromising, and delicious! 

The Shake Ridge Mourvedre is the prettiest Mourvedre we've ever tasted, showing black tea and cool summer fruits, and boasting a palate that is both perfectly balanced and hauntingly distinctive. 

The 2022 Mourvèdre Shake Ridge Vineyard is a dark, brooding wine. Black cherry, incense, licorice, black olives, grilled herbs and leather abound. Deceptive in its mid-weight personality, the 2022 packs quite the punch. All the elements are so well balanced in this deeply savory, earthy Mourvèdre.
