2004 Chateau Suduiraut Premier Cru Classe, Sauternes 12x750ml

The 2004 Suduiraut is consistent with my previous notes and perhaps is just a little more Aszu-like on the nose. Plenty of wax resin here. The palate is well balanced, though not nearly as complex as other vintage. It’s straightforward with grapefruit, honey, quince and orange peel. Fine. [Neal Martin, 06/06/2024]

Tasted at the London Suduiraut vertical. The Suduiraut 2004 has another beautiful bouquet with scents of Clementine, dried pineapple, a touch of lychee and beeswax. It is not a powerful nose, but the definition and the focus is there. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine, citrus-driven entry, a little drier in texture than recent vintages, borrowing a touch of spice from the 2009, with mandarin, quince and a dash of lemongrass on the finish. Pale barley sugar colour. Opulent, clean, fresh nose without dramatic intensity and only medium sweetness. Ready to enjoy and with a fine, slightly mushroomy (but not decayed)  finish and real sore throat soothing qualities on the very end. Some candied peel notes.  [01/01/2016]
